History of Jay's Cycles

Welcome to Jay's Cycles, a family owned and operated business in the greater Princeton NJ area for more than fifty years. I am Jay, owner ofJay's Jay
Cycles and I invite you to come visit us and find out what the difference is between us and other bike shops. We proudly run the business as a family with my wife Marilyn handling operations and accounting and our daughter Jennifer, with over twenty years of retail experience, as general manager. Together, we are committed to providing the best cycling gear and customer service in the Princeton area.

My father founded the business in 1947 as a Hardware Automotive store with a commitment to providing the absolute best in customer service. We expanded into sporting goods including bicycles in 1952 and in 1977, after taking over the business from my father, went one hundred percent into bicycles becoming one of the earliest Trek dealers in 1980. We are proud to continue to be one of Trek's premier dealers to this day. Their unparalleled support and top quality products are two significant reasons why we continue to deliver best-in-class customer service every single day.

Our current building is steeped in the heritage of the Princeton area. At 40 years young, it has recently been remodeled and will be here at least another 40 more. ShowroomOur expansive showroom allows us to always have a vast selection of bicycles for all types of riders. We have free parking right in front of the store allowing easy access at any time of the day. Our friendly staff is passionate about bikes and sharing the cycling experience with you. Over the course of our more than 50 years in business we have enjoyed the patronage of such notable people as theoretical physicist and developer of the theory of relativity, Albert Einstein; astronomer, physicist, scientist and originator of outer space telescopes such as the Hubble Space Telescope, Dr. Lyman Spitzer; actor, producer, director, author and activist, Christopher Reeve, well known for his portrayal of Superman in the late 1970's and early 80's; and, of course, his mother Barbara Pitney Reeve.
